四级作文范文

①I assume that the humorous/classical/well-known saying “Quitting smoking is the easiest thing in the world. I have done it hundreds of times” would not be alien to you. It is evident that quitting smoking requires/entails determination/resolution.

Humorous/Simple as the saying may sound, it contains profound philosophy and embodies/reflects a kind of attitude; that is, nothing succeeds without a strong will. It is undoubted that we cannot emphasize the importance of strong will too much simply because it is the key to success. A strong will not only enable us to keep faith and continue to strive, but also help us weather hard times. Illustrated with an array of examples from both Chinese and western history, this quality really matters. A case in point is the famous writer, Zhang Haidi. How could she achieve success without a strong will.

Consequently, when confronted with difficulties/failures and

setbacks/betrayal, we need to bear in mind that a strong will is an indispensable ingredient for success. As the well-known remark goes “Where there is a will, there is a way”.

②Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write an essay commenting on the saying “ God Helps Those Who Help Themselves.” You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words.

As the commonly-heard saying goes, “God helps those who help themselves.” It tells us that our fate is decided by ourselves rather than others, and only when we stand on our own feet could we become the real master of our life. Simple as the sentence may sound, it contains abundant life philosophy and informs us of the significance of being independent. To further demonstrate the importance of independence, I would like to take the British physicist Steven Hawking as a case in point. Though Hawking suffers from unbearable agony due to his severe illness, never has he abandoned himself or given up his research and study. Through thick and thin, he has developed his own theories and made unparalleled achievements. Form my perspective, at no time should we ignore the importance of being independent, especially when we are in difficulties. Accordingly, we should foster the habit of being independent in our daily life and work, which is bound to help us overcome difficulties.

③Directions:For this part you are allowed 30 minutes to write an essay commenting on the remark “A fall into the pit, a gain in your wit.” You can give examples to illustrate your point and then explain how we could learn from our mistakes and failures. You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words. Learning from One’s Falls.

I assume that you are all too familiar with the old saying, “A fall into the pit, a gain in your wit.” It is obvious that sometimes failure is a blessing in disguise, which will teach you a solid lesson if you reflect on it. Simple as the sentence may sound, it contains abundant life philosophy and informs us of the significance of learning from our falls. Quite a few examples can be given to prove the importance

of learning from one’s falls. However, I can think of no better example than the following one: during his brilliant career, Steve Jobs once was dismissed from Apple--- the company of which he was one of the co-founders. Frustrated as he was at that time, however, he

wasted no time complaining but started his business from scrap once again and finally was welcomed back to Apple with glory. As for me, at no time should we ignore the importance of learning from our failures. Accordingly, we should foster the habit of learning from our falls in our daily life.

④Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write an essay on happiness by referring to the saying “Happiness is not the absence of problems, but the ability to deal with them.” You can cite examples to illustrate your point and then explain how you can develop your ability to deal with problems and be happy. You should write at least150 words but no more than 200 words.

I assume that the classical saying “happiness is not the absence of problems, but the ability to deal with them” would not be alien to you. It is evident/apparent/obvious that coping with/disposing of problems may produce/bring about real happiness. Simple as the saying may sound, it contains a profound philosophy and reflects/embodies a kind of attitude; that is, happiness is not pleasure/joy without pain and suffering, but to live with them and to tackle the problems. It is undoubted that we cannot emphasize the importance of the ability/capacity to handle issues too much simply because it is the key to

happiness. The capacity to manage problems will not only enable us to make progress

and

reap

confidence,

but

also

gain

a

sense

of

fulfillment/accomplishment/achievement, which is a key element for happiness. A case in point is the world famous entrepreneur/businessman,Ma Yun. How could he achieve success and thus further reap happiness without the ability to approach the problems. Consequently, when facing problems and difficulties, we need to/have to/are obliged to bear in mind that they are indispensable ingredients for happiness. It is high time that sufficient value and gratitude were placed upon them because they bring us real happiness.
